Latest from AP : "Polaroid Corp. is dropping the technology it pioneered long before digital photography rendered instant film obsolete to all but a few nostalgia buffs...
Polaroid is closing factories in Massachusetts, Mexico and the Netherlands and cutting 450 jobs as the brand synonymous with instant images focuses on ventures such as a portable printer for images from cell phones and Polaroid-branded digital cameras, televisions and DVD players.
This year's closures will leave Polaroid with 150 employees at its Concord headquarters and a site in the nearby Boston suburb of Waltham, down from peak global employment of nearly 21,000 in 1978.
The company stopped making instant cameras over the past two years..."
What a pity, I am one of those polaroid "buffs". No digital camera can do what polaroid camera can - a proven fact. Its a real old-fashion tool of making great imagery.

I've been watching CNN (what else is there to watch on cable TV in PA. Lou Dobbs calls everyone an idiot every ten minutes. He is definetely an angry old man. I wonder whether he is really upset about the state of the nation and thinks every US POLITICIAN IS REALLY AN IDIOT, or is simply trying to ride the rating wave like every other media demagogue?

Toronto Police Give Art Student's Hoax Project a Failing Grade
The Ontario College of Art and Design, in Toronto, has suspended a student and two faculty members after an unusual art project, involving a bomb hoax, forced the evacuation of the Royal Ontario Museum on Wednesday night and the cancellation of a major black-tie fund raiser for AIDS research.
A bomb-disposal squad was sent in to deal with what was thought to be a genuine explosive, The Globe and Mail reported, and traffic in downtown Toronto was affected for four hours.
The student, Thorarinn Jonsson, turned himself in to the police last night. He told The Toronto Star that the fake bomb was a sculpture and part of his class project.
The Toronto police have charged Mr. Jonsson with common nuisance and mischief interfering with property. The university said the faculty members, whom it did not identify, would be suspended until its investigation was complete. The museum said the fund raiser would be rescheduled. —Karen Birchard
